Known as the sixth largest airline in the United State Aviation Industry, JetBlue has established itself as a customer-centric airline that caters to offer cheap flight to customers. Based in the Long Island City neighbourhood of New York City, JetBlue Airlines is a low-cost carrier airline, founded in 1999 that offers affordable yet comfortable fares to customers. The airline currently operates on 114 destinations with 285 aircraft in its fleet. 

JetBlue has such an expansive destination list that the airline operates almost 1000 flights daily to various destinations along with 100 international and domestic flights in the United States, Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean, Central and South America and Europe. JetBlue Airlines also boasts its codeshares with numeros airline alliances including Oneworld, Skyteam and Star Alliance. 

Facilities of JetBlue Airlines

Being a low cost airline, JetBlue offers multiple fare options to each customer. The airline is known for offering flights to both popular destinations and to underserved destinations. JetBlue Airlines has a loyalty program named “True Blue”  that offers multiple benefits to the frequent flyer including extra facilities, Priority check-in and boarding, cabin amenities and more.

Cabin Differentiations 

JetBlue Airlines offers its customers the liberty to choose fare which suits them best. Thus, JetBlue offers five different fare types with different functionalities. 

• Blue Basic 
  Passengers who want to travel budget-friendly can opt for this fare type as you can save plenty of money on flight tickets but will have to pay extra for additional amenities like carry-on baggage, checked baggage, flight changes, cancellations and seat selection. You can also earn True Blue points per dollar if you board last. No changes are permitted in this JetBlue Airlines reservation. 

• Blue 
  Known as the regular economy of JetBlue Airlines, this is also an economical fare for passengers where they can enjoy simple benefits without paying much. Blue flyers can bring one carry-on bag and one personal item on international flights without extra cost. Along with that, they can enjoy waived change and cancellation fee and advance seat selection in JetBlue Airlines. However, passengers still have to pay extra for checked bags except one complimentary checked baggage on flights to London and Paris. 

• Blue Extra 
  This fare type comes with more benefits like better seats with extra legroom and priority boarding. However, passengers still have to pay for checked baggage except on transatlantic flight routes. Also, at selected airports, passengers travelling in JetBlue Airlines Blue Extra can enjoy the facility of priority check-in and boarding and security service. Also, passengers travelling in Blue Extra can also be eligible for upgrade to Mint or Even More Space seats. 

• Mint 
  The airline offers its flagship cabin on some of the longer routes including transcontinental flights and some Caribbean destinations. Mint is known as flagships business class which offers all the perks of other previous classes along with priority boarding, and two free checked baggage. On some routes, Mint also offers lie-flat seats at a premium cost but still relatively affordable. 
  Logically, Mint fares are more expensive than economy fares but the comfort and convenience is worth the upgrade in JetBlue Airlines. 

• Even More Space 
  This is not a fare class in JetBlue but an upgrade category in which you can purchase extra space which includes extra legroom, seats with extra seat pitch and recline, expedited check-in, security and boarding. 

Baggage Allowance 

JetBlue Airlines offers generous baggage allowance to passengers in all fare types. However, there are certain restrictions on baggage allowance, so it’s always better to check and review before than paying extra later. 

Carry-on Baggage 

All passengers travelling in Blue, Blue Extra, and Mint fare can carry one carry-on bag that fits in the overhead bin along with one personal item such as purse, briefcase, and backpack that fits under the seat in front of them. Also passengers flying in JetBlue flights must adhere to the baggage measurements to avoid paying extra. The dimension of carry-on bags must not exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches including wheels and handle. 

The dimension of personal items must not exceed 17 x 13 x 8 inches. 

For Basic Blue fares, the baggage allowance in JetBlue Airlines includes one personal item that fits under the seat in front of the passenger like a purse, briefcase, backpack, laptop bag and pet carrier. Any additional bags are subject to extra charges and will be considered as checked bags. The fee for first and second checked baggage is $65 or $180 in case of a third bag. 

However, there are certain exceptions to baggage allowance. 

• JetBlue Airlines Mosaic members can carry one carry-on bag and can enjoy early boarding irrespective of any cabin class booking. 
• Passengers travelling on JetBlue Airlines Transatlantic routes (including connecting flights) can carry one carry-on and one checked baggage. 
• Passengers with Basic Blue with Even More Space can also enjoy extra baggage allowance. 
• Active U.S military personnel are also eligible to carry extra baggage allowance without additional cost. 

Checked Baggage  

JetBlue Airlines has certain restrictions on checked baggage allowance. 

• Passengers can carry at least 2 checked baggage anytime from making reservations to arriving at the airport. 
• In case of more than two bags, passengers can purchase additional allowance from the website or at the JetBlue Airlines counter at the airport. 
• The prescribed weight of the checked baggage must not exceed 50 pounds with a total dimension of 62 inches as per Jetblue baggage policy.  

Checked Baggage Fee 

JetBlue Airlines checked baggage fees depend on the route and destination of the flight and thus it’s better to know what are the applicable charges in case of excess baggage while travelling.

Overweight and Oversized Baggage 

JetBlue Airlines also has additional charges on oversized and overweight baggage. If a bag is both overweight and oversized then only one fee will be charged. 

• Overweight Fee : $150 ( €1205/￡140) for bags weighing about 51 to 99 pounds (23 to 45 kilogram). 

• Oversized Fee : $150 ( €1205/ ￡140) for bags over 63 to 80 inches (203.3 cm) including handles and wheel. 

Check-in Facility 

JetBlue Airways check-in policy offers flexible check-in options that enables customers to check-in at your own convenience. JetBlue online check-in starts 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. The airline advises passengers to reach the airport at least 2 hours prior for domestic flight while for international flights, reach the airport 3 hours before the Jetblue flight departs. Always check the JetBlue flight status to know the information. 

• As per JetBlue check in policy, all confirmed reservations are subject to check-in. 
• All passengers can check the exact JetBlue flights status to know the flight status. 
• Check-in should be completed before the given cut-off time. 
• In case of reservations made from third party websites, passengers travelling on JetBlue Airlines should seek boarding pass and check-in facility from the third-party website only. 

Online Check-in

The check-in starts from 24 hours to 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure of domestic flights. For international flights, the online web check-in starts from 24 hours to 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Alternatively, you can use the JetBlue Airlines Mobile application to check-in conveniently to avoid the hassle at the airport.  Simply download the application from IOS Play Store or from Apple Store.

Airport Check-in  

For JetBlue Airlines check-in, passengers should reach the airport at least 3-4 hours before departure especially if you have checked baggage. However, if you are travelling from Cuba, it is advised to reach the airport 4 hours prior to your scheduled flight. Another way to check-in at the airport is through the self-service Kiosk which are available for check-in at the airport terminal. The minimum time to check-in for JetBlue flights is 40 minutes for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international flights. Passengers can check in for the flight by calling JetBlue phone number. 

JetBlue Cancellation and Refund Policy 

• Basic Blue fares are considered as non-refundable tickets and are subject to a 200 USD cancellation fee per person as per JetBlue Airways cancellation and refund policy.
• Flights to/from the U.S can be cancelled within 24 hours of purchasing the ticket without any additional cost.  
• In case of cancellation on non-refundable tickets, only the government taxes will be refunded. 
• JetBlue Airlines cancellation charges are also applicable on the restricted as well as non-restricted fares, regardless of the fare types.
